Useful Components
- AC power inverter circuit - sustained usage will require extensive modification of the heat sinks.
- Battery - lead acid type
- AC Relay - 240 volt or higher
- Power Transistors IGBT/MOSFET - 50 volt or higher, 15 amps or higher. A large UPS will probably contain "block" type.
- Power Transformer, large step down for charging the battery, small step up transformer which is part of the inverter.
- Overload Circuit Breaker
- Ceramic, Polypropylene, and/or Electrolytic Capacitors
- Heat sinks and/or heat blocks
- Pezio Speaker

Dismantling Tips
Dismantling is fairly straightforward on PC type UPS devices however larger "Mains" type power supplies may require special tools.

Safety Points
Lethal electrical voltages can be maintained in the capacitors, capacitors should be drained or can be shorted with an insulated screwdriver.

Where to Find
Small PC Uninterruptible Power Supplies can be found at PC repair shops, PC recycling businesses, and in business refuse. Larger UPS might be found in a scrapyard.
